All personal growth involves change

Personal growth is the process of responding positively to change.

It involves risk as you step from the known to the unknown.

All your growth will depend on your activity.

Your strength and growth will come only through continuous effort and struggle.

There will be no development without effort.

Trouble is the common denominator of living.

It is the great equalizer of life.

Your trials, your sorrows and your grief’s will develop you.

When good or bad fortune comes your way, you must give it meaning and transform it into something of value.

What happens to you is not as important as your reaction to what is happening.

The secret to confidence is preparation

With practice you’ll come to a point of competence.

You’ll find yourself accomplishing your goals gracefully and confidently.

It’s then that you’ll do things that you never dreamed you could do.

You can go anywhere with a goal

A life without purpose is like a ship without a rudder.

Goals are dreams that are written down.

Is Gaining Control The Best Way To Reduce Stress?

I was watching a documentary on PBS about stress based on an amazing book and they were talking about how one’s social hierarchy, like your position and title at your job, can increase stress and negatively affect your body.

Their studies showed that the lower you are on the corporate or social ladder the more your body is adversely affected by stress.  Some of the negative effects of stress on our bodies are more than a little scary.  We all know about ulcers and hypertension, but did you know that stress can cause decreased neurogenesis, responsible for populating the growing brain with neurons which has been linked to depression?  Stress can also cause increased hippocampal neuronal atrophy – otherwise known as brain shrinkage.  Sheesh!

Are Facebook’s Privacy Settings A Joke?

Let me start by saying that if you are going to stay safe online, never enter or post any data in social media that you would not want discussed on national news.

Recently Facebook changed their privacy settings making it harder to limit your posts to specific people.  That got a lot of people angry but the reality is that any company can change their rules at any time and your only recourse of action is to stop using it.  When you consider the size and scope of Facebook it is easy to see how most will simply shrug their shoulders and move on – social media is addictive and most are not going to stop posting regardless of the privacy rules.

When you stop dreaming you stop living

If you want to enlarge your life, you must first enlarge your thought of it and yourself.

Hold the image of yourself as you long to be, the image of what you long to obtain, the image of health, efficiency and success.

Look at things as they can be

Your range of available choices right now has no limits.

The only limits you have are in your mind.

You’ve got it in you to succeed.

Just make up your mind and stick with it.

Honesty opens the door to success

Successful people have cultivated the habit of never denying to themselves their true feelings and attitudes.

They have no need for pretenses.

Once you accept yourself completely you don’t have to maintain a phony front, or feel insecure if people don’t tune in to you and what you’re doing.

You can achieve anything

The only thing that stands between you and what you want from life, is simply the will to pursue it and the faith to believe that it is possible.

You can have anything on earth that you want, once you mentally accept the fact that you can have it.

If you want success, begin thinking of yourself as a success.
